Dr. Isabel Rivera-Collazo, a research affiliate of the Center for Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, recently published a paper that assesses the impact of climate change, both current and projected, on important cultural heritage sites in Puerto Rico. Specifically, the paper focuses on the impacts of sea level rise as caused by climate change, as more than two dozen heritage sites are underwater in times of present-day high tide. A goal of this paper is to extend vulnerability assessment findings to cultural heritage managers, allowing them to develop adaptive strategies to better prepare them for climate change impacts.
