Julia R. Brown Fund

PURPOSE

The Julia R. Brown Fund for Climate Change Research and Education provides supplemental support for graduate and undergraduate students to attend climate conferences and workshops, to develop climate-related educational material stemming from their research, and to participate in community projects related to climate change impacts and adaptation.

Graduate Student Applications
Graduate student opportunity is advertised three times/annually: October 1; February 1; and May 1; (if a date falls on a weekend, the announcement is sent out the first business day after the weekend). An email announcement will go out from Cathy Constable’s office (Department Chair) advising interested students.

Eligibility
Recipients must be registered SIO graduate students in good standing, not only at the time of the award but also at the time the funds will be expended.  Students submitting a second application in the same fiscal year will receive lower priority. Total funding for any student will not exceed $3000 over the course of the student’s time at UCSD.

Undergraduate Student Applications
Undergraduate student opportunity is advertised starting in the 2018 Winter quarter through an email announcement from Jane Teranes (coordinator for the new undergraduate climate minor).

Eligibility
Recipients must be registered in the Climate minor program. Students submitting a second application in the same fiscal year will receive lower priority. Total funding for any student will not exceed $3000 over the course of the student’s time at UCSD.
